Imagine that you need to fuel you car in order to start it, you would keep fuel ready to pour if this was the case, right? So, what is different with getting your body started? Why would you have fuel ready for your car, yet no have fuel for your body?

So, what makes a good breakfast to get you going?

Oatmeal-loaded with fiber, omega 3 fatty acids, potassium, and folate will help your body. It even has beta-glucan which helps lower cholesterol when eaten regularly. Greek Yogurt-loaded with calcium, and protein. You can add fruit for added nutrition and flavor too. Wheat Germ- 2 tablespoons provides 15% of your recommended daily intake and 10% of your folate. Sprinkle it over cereal, stir it into yogurt, or mix it into a smoothie. Grapefruit- is packed with antioxidants that boost your immune system. It is also hydrating and filling. One study found that eating half a grapefruit before each meal may help with weight loss because of grapefruits fat burning properties, and its beneficial effects on blood sugar and insulin levels. Pair it with protein such as eggs or yogurt. Bananas- loaded with potassium and healthy carbohydrate that keeps you feeling fuller longer. Add it to cereal or oatmeal. This is a great alternative to adding table sugar or sugar substitutes. Flaxseed- is a great addition to your cereal or smoothie. It is loaded with omega 3 fatty acids with 2 tablespoons containing more than 100% of your recommended daily intake. It has a nutty flavor, rich in fiber, rich in lignan which is an antioxidant found to protect against breast cancer. Eggs- loaded with protein and vitamin D. These are just a few options for you to consider for breakfast. There are many more and you have to decide which ones you can be consistent with. I started eating oatmeal and my recent lab work shows positives effects especially in my lowered cholesterol. I will not say it is only because of oatmeal because I made other changes too. I do feel more energy in the mornings because of my oatmeal consumption. Find what works for you and stick with it. Get your consistent breakfast and watch your body, mind, and productivity change. Make it a great Tuesday!
