Love Thy Self

With February being a month of love, where cupid is flying around shooting arrows, my question is, do you love yourself? Do you love yourself enough to stop putting foods in your body that are breaking it down in a negative way? Do you love yourself enough to stop drinking beverages that cause you to have terrible hangovers after the fun? You have one body and you must take care of it if you expect it to give you a long life. Yes, modern medicine has improved the chances of you living an ex
tended life, but do you really want to depend on a pill to keep you going? January was the beginning for some of you. Some of you started out with a new year's resolution of getting into better shape physically, emotionally, mentally, and spiritually. Where are you?
I can speak for the changes that I've made in regards to increasing my fruits and vegetables so that I make sure I'm getting my vitamins and minerals from a holistic place. Even though I do take a daily multivitamin, I still want to make sure I'm using natural foods to get the substance that my body needs. I decreased the amount of processed foods and I have focused on decreasing my sodium intake. Hydration is also very important as you are changing your life. Make sure you are getting all the fluids that your body needs. Our bodies are made up of over 70% fluid with water being a key component.
So remember, you are fully in control of the substances you choose to put in your body. No one is making you eat burgers, fries, fast food, tacos on Taco Tuesday, drinking excess alcohol, juices, pastries, the list can go on and on and on. It's all a choice. I'm not saying that you cannot enjoy the foods and drinks that I've listed. What I am saying is practice moderation instead of excess. Enjoy the foods that bring you pleasure, just be under control when you're enjoying those foods/drinks because stuffing yourself is over-consumption and biblically called gluttony.
Gluttony is the excessive indulgence and over-consumption of food, drink, or anything else, leading to waste and self-centered pleasure rather than moderation and spiritual focus, making it a sin. This replaces God with earthly desires, shows a lack of self-control, and dishonors the body as God's temple. It's not just eating too much but an inordinate desire that prioritizes physical appetites over spiritual needs.
Gluttony can extend to other forms of greed, such as excessive consumption of entertainment or material goods, diverting attention from God.
Idolatry: Making food or pleasure your god, worshiping the belly instead of the Creator.

Philippians 3: 18-19
18 For many walk, of whom I have told you often, and now tell you even weeping, that they are the enemies of the cross of Christ: 19 Whose end is destruction, whose God is their belly, and whose glory is in their shame, who mind earthly things.
Proverbs 23: 19-21
19 Hear thou, my son, and be wise, and guide thine heart in the way.
20 Be not among winebibbers; among riotous eaters of flesh:
21 For the drunkard and the glutton shall come to poverty: and drowsiness shall clothe a man with rags.
Galatians 5: 23
23 Meekness, temperance: against such there is no law.
John 6: 27
27 Labour not for the meat which perisheth, but for that meat which endureth unto everlasting life, which the Son of man shall give unto you: for him hath God the Father sealed.
Sincerely,
