It is a new day. How have you done so far on your commitments?
The definition of commitment is:
-an agreement or pledge to do something in the future
-something pledged
-the state or an instance of being obligated or emotionally impelled
Reference: Merriam-Webster Dictionary
The great thing about life is that it will test you daily. Whatever your commitments are such as faith, family, fitness, finance, and fun, you have a daily opportunity to work on them. You are obligated to do something in the area you have committed to. Today, I am focusing on finance. Have you ever taken time to really look at how your finances and health go together? The more funds you have available, the more you can buy, right? Well it really depends on what you like. The misconception is that health food is expensive. The truth is that you have to be diligent in finding the most cost effective way to purchase healthy foods and drinks.
Committing to a healthy lifestyle means that you have to manage your finances also. It is easy to purchase low cost foods and drinks that are not the healthiest for you. Yes, you will save money, however the quality of the nutrients in those foods are not the greatest for your body to function at its best. So, how do you save money, eat, and drink healthy at the same time?
1. Create a budget.
2. Create a list of foods and drinks.
3. Select foods and drinks that are healthy and nutrient dense with less processing, fat, salt, and sugar.
4. Prioritize the most important items on your list.
5. Buy in bulk and prepare your meals ahead of time. Meal prepping is easy to do if you have the right understanding on why you are doing it.
6. Use coupons or manufacture discounts to save on the items.
7. Control your portion sizes to get the most servings out of the products that you bought.
8. Understand that delayed gratification is a powerful motivator for you to accomplish your goals and stick to your commitments.
These are actions that you may already be doing. If not, add them into your life and watch how you are able to make small changes that will lead to huge results in your finances and health. Yes, these steps do require discipline because you have to make a constant effort and be aware of what you are doing. Impulse buys are what you are steering away from because those purchases may not be the healthiest for you. We live in a world that markets and advertises so many delicious foods and drinks. Remember that company has a product that they must sell to us the consumer. It is the consumers duty to make the best decision based on their goals/commitments.
Make it a great day!
