Yes, It is Monday! What a fantastic day to get things accomplished, right? Yes, I agree. So what are you doing? Have you moved closer to your goals? I am excited since we are now in the 6th month of the year. We are halfway through the year with 6 months remaining, We must use our time wisely. Today we will take a look at ways to keep moving forward.

Make sure you are getting your rest. The National Sleep Foundation says that you cannot catch up on lost sleep. So, make sure you are getting a good quality amount of sleep. You should also not hit the snooze button which actually throws your body off. This results in a groggy and slow wake up in comparison to if you just got up. Hitting the snooze button digs a deeper hole for you to climb out of. Make sure you are moving your body. Exercise motivates and improves work performance. A study found that when a group of people suffering from mild to moderate depression exercised for at least 20 to 60 minutes 3 times a week, they were significantly less depressed 5 weeks later. The benefits were immediate and were maintained for these participants as long as they consistently exercised. Make sure you do not answer emails until you get to the office. The beginning of the week is the time when you set your mental state for the week. Stay focused on big projects ahead and devote brain power to that. Emails can distract you away from that and certain emails can wait. Make sure you do not make big decisions on Monday. Monday is an emotional day and making major decisions when you are feeling down can have serious consequences. Not every day is designed for intense decisions. Make sure you get things done. So, working out will help you out of the low points, and so will working on projects where you can see immediate results. Behavioral Psychologist Kelly Lambert has done a lot of research that shows handiwork can pull us out of depressed moments. For example, knitting a scarf helps the brains executive thinking centers get busy planning. Do tasks and projects that can be completed and have a box to check. It could be organizing your desk, planning your month, or writing notes to encourage your staff or coworkers.
