What a wonderful day. It is Monday! Some students are on spring break while others are back to school today. Whatever the case may be you still can enjoy the day. Sunlight is blazing after the long rainy period we had in Southern California. Speaking of sunlight, did you know that the sun’s SUV rays help your body produce vitamin D? Yep, it sure does! Vitamin D is good for your bones, blood cells, and immune system.
Your eyes need light to help your body set its internal clock. Scientists think that the sun rays shrink fat cells below your skin's surface. You need exposure between 8am-12pm for at least 20-30 minutes.
Sunlight also helps your body boost serotonin which can give you more energy, keep you calm, positive, and focused.
Keep in mind, sunlight is good, but you do not want to be exposed to it for too long without sunscreen. Sunlight has been linked to melanoma, basal cell carcinoma, and squamous cell carcinoma which are the 3 main types of skin cancer.
Too much can also cause wrinkles, faster skin age, and dark spots. SPF 15 or higher is the best protection from sun rays.
So, now that you have learned or refreshed your memory about sunlight. Make sure you are properly protected and getting out for a little exposure. Spring is here and flowers are blooming. Bask in the brightness.
Make it a great Monday!
