Christian Concepts For Growth & Development

Lesson 7 So our devotional reading is in 1st Corinthians 2: 1- 16. One of the key things that I got as I read through it is that Paul was a powerful man, educated, and well spoken. However, he let us know that he wasn't coming to the church at Corinth with perfect speech and education to share information with them.

For example, I've listened to lectures or watched shows where the person speaking doesn't pay attention to the audience and speaks at such a high level with big complex words and phrases that the message is missed by a majority of the people only because the speaker is full of him or herself and wants to be looked on by his or her peers as an esteemed and knowledgeable speaker.

Paul is the complete opposite of the person I described. He was coming to them with the power of God who he met on his road to Damascus.

The power that was given to him by God was for his specific role in the kingdom.

Paul also lets us know that as humans we may have some weaknesses, we may have some fears, that we will face in our lives. He lets us know that we must put our faith and trust in God not in the words of man, especially men that do not have a relationship with God.

Many scholars have done extensive studies and research yet they still do not fully understand God's words. There are things that God will reveal to us through his word and we must have a relationship with him in order for that to happen. The power of the Holy Spirit will lead and guide us.

There's a strong point made that if the rulers of this world had of known the Lord they would not have crucified him. Had they accepted Jesus for who He was, turned from their wicked ways and excepted Him as their Savior, they would not have crucified Him.

So, the person that does not have a relationship with God will not receive the same message as the person who does have a relationship with God. The believers spirit is connected with what God has for them. It is the believers responsibility to hear, read, submit, and follow God's word in their everyday lives which may not be easy to do for some and that's why we have the Holy Spirit to lead and guide us.
