PROTEINS

Proteins are super important for our bodies. There are many ways to get them too. Today we will look at the benefits of proteins. Protein is an important component of every cell in our body. Our bodies use protein to build and repair tissues. Our bodies use proteins to make enzymes, hormones, and other body chemicals. It is also an important building block of bones, muscles, cartilage, skin, and blood. We need to make sure we are consuming protein from better food sources. Protein selection is super important in successful weight loss and overall health. Eating large quantities of processed meats such as hot dogs, sausages, and deli meats, have been linked to increased risk of type 2 diabetes, cardiovascular disease, and colorectal cancer. The better choices of proteins are listed below. Fish-Heart healthy omega 3 fatty acids Poultry-Remove skin to remove most of saturated fat Beans-Contain more protein than any other vegetable protein. Loaded with fiber that helps with a feeling of fullness Nuts-1 ounce of almonds gives 6 grams of protein Whole Grains-1 slice of whole wheat bread has 3 grams of protein, plus valuable fiber.
