Happy Monday! The weekend has come and gone. I hope you had a fantastic time and are focused on today. If you took time away from your pursuit of your goals then today is the beginning of a new weeks journey. How about the fact that we are 15 days into 2018. Is this month moving fast or what? Monday is always a great day to really get moving. Some people have the case of the Mondays, (they are tired, unmotivated, and disgruntled about returning to work on Monday) because they had a super great time over the weekend and would rather have fun instead of getting to work today. Where do you fall in? Are you are person with the case of the Mondays? If so, here are a few ways to make your day a more productive one. Sleep On It There are countless studies showing the importance of a good night’s sleep. It’s especially necessary when you’re trying to position yourself to have effective Mondays. Going to bed too late on Sundays will make you tired and less engaged, yet sleeping in too much over the weekend can throw off your body’s schedule and be harmful as well. It’s all about finding the right balance and having the discipline to stick to it. Plan Ahead You do not have to have every second of the day planned, however, having a predetermined schedule for at least the first couple of hours will help you be more productive on Mondays. It really depends on you. For some, brainstorming the next project, or dealing with administration work may be best things in the beginning of the morning. Whatever it is, find what works for you and script it ahead of time. Mental Prep A motivational coach, Tony Robbins, recommends that you start your day by reading inspirational pieces from faith leaders or artists. You can also meditate, read a book that gets your mind flowing, and listen to your favorite music that is uplifting to you. The key is setting the tone for the rest of your week. If you can get Monday right, the effectiveness of your week will be better. Physical Fitness It is very important when you set up your Monday morning that you make time to do something that will refresh and invigorate you for the day ahead. Hitting the gym, doing a home workout, or doing a yoga session are all ways to set your day on the right foot. Find something that will get you physically energized for the day ahead.
